oil on board 9 3/4" X 13" signed lower right. Tucker studied with John Twachtman at the Art Students League. When he was 38,Tucker abandoned architecture and devoted himself to painting full time. He based his studio in New York City but spent summers traveling along the New England coast, New Mexico, Canadian Rockies and in Europe.He was influenced by Van Gogh. Allen Tucker exhibited five paintings at the famous 1913 New York Armory Show. His first comprehensive one-man show was held at the Whitney Studio Club(later Whitney Museum of American Art) Also exhibited at the PAFA and National Academy of Design, N.Y. Allen Tucker has 14 works of art at the National Gallery and 5 works at the Metropolitan Mus. $3,400.00
