WATERCOLOR 14" X 20 1/4" SLL and dated Aug.1935 Hayley Lever was born in Australia in 1876. Best known as a post-impressionist of marine scenes,Lever was active in St.Ives, England around 1885. In 1911 Lever emigrated to the U.S. and settled in Caldwell, N.J. For twenty years,Hayley Lever spent his summers in Gloucester,Ma. He also painted in Caldwell, N.J. Vermont, Woodstock,N.Y.,Nantucket, Manhattan, New Rochelle,N.Y. and Monhegan Island, Me. He was admitted to the prestigious National Academy of Design in 1933. Lever held memberships in the National Academy, National Arts Club, Royal British Artists,Woodstock Art Assoc. and numerous others. His works are in the Metropolitan Mus.,Pa. Academy of Fine Arts, Corcoran Gallery,Washington,D.C.,Brooklyn Museum and many others. Lever died in 1958 in Mt.Vernon, N.Y. $1,400.00
